Brain’s Mountain Dew Dreams Come True!

I'm always interested to try the latest and greatest flavors from my favorite soda Mountain Dew. I live off of Diet Dew and don't dive back into the regular stuff too often. But when I do it is usually to try a new flavor creation. A few weeks ago I wrote about a new variety of Dew called Purple Thunder. However, it is only available at Circle K stores. Leave it to a fantastic KHAK listener to come to the rescue!

I got a Facebook message from a listener named Brad. He told me that while down in the Quad Cities, he stopped at a Circle K. It turns out Brad is a big Mountain Dew fan too! He informed me he was bringing a bottle back to Eastern Iowa for me! He delivered it this morning and we did an official taste test on the air. So is Mountain Dew Purple Thunder any good?

In a word? Yes. The label describes it as Mountain Dew with 'berry and plum' flavoring. I didn't pick up much of the plum. It tasted like Mountain Dew with some light grape flavoring. I also didn't think it was too sweet as some flavors of Mountain Dew can be, in my opinion.

I sure wish Circle K had a store closer, or that Mountain Dew would bring Purple Thunder to the masses! I mentioned that I can no longer find the grape-flavored Mountain Dew Kickstart in stores. Purple Thunder would be a welcome replacement for my grape Dew fix! This Mountain Dew lover is a fan of the Purple Thunder!
