Nearly 40 years ago, on August 2, 1981, after three families had called it their home between 1884 and 1981, a 26-acre piece of Iowa history opened its doors to visitors for the first time. About 3,000-4,000 of them walked in and, since then, Brucemore has been an important landmark for not only those in Cedar Rapids and Iowa but across the country as well.

The Cedar Rapids Gazette talks about the importance of this milestone for Brucemore Historic Mansion, located at 2160 Linden Dr. SE, and lists several events visitors can attend to help them celebrate.
