If you got a camera ticket in the mail recently, double check it--because it could be wrong!

According to KCRG, "Police said they have been made aware of at least one error where a driver got a ticket for driving 60 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone."

I've talked to 4 other people that got the same ticket for 5-over. This is wrong, and these tickets do not need to be paid. Violations can only be sent to motorists who are exceeding the speed limit by 12 miles per hour or more.

At least 5,137 tickets were issued in the first 4 days of the traffic cameras being turned on. I'm pretty sure we set some kind of a record for that many tickets. I just wonder how many of them were the 5-over tickets that should be reversed.

I love the safety part of this program, but overall, I feel it's a money grab and wish they would go away. We have a strong police force here in Cedar Rapids. Let those brave men and woman take care of the speeders on the interstate instead of a camera.

If you got one of these citations, don't pay it. Please call Cedar Rapids Police at 319-286-5513.
