Back on Saturday, September 11th, the Iowa Hawkeyes took on the Iowa State Cyclones for their annual rivalry game. The Hawks may have won the game 27 to 17, but they weren't the only winners here in the state of Iowa!

According to a new report from KCRG, the Carson King Foundation was able to raise $100,000 because of the 2021 CyHawk game! Folks from all over the country donated to Carson's second Venmo fundraiser, which ended on September 30th. The original total raised was $80,013.62, but the foundation bumped that number up to an even $100,000. That means $50,000 will be going to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital, and the other $50,000 will go to the Blank Children's Hospital in Des Moines.

Iowa native Carson King first made headlines in 2019 when his homemade sign was featured during the ESPN College Game Day broadcast in Ames. He originally requested money so that he could buy some Busch Lite, but after getting a massive response from football fans all over the U.S., he decided to put that money to good use. Around $3 MILLION was raised that year, and ever since then, Carson has continued to positively impact the state of Iowa with the Carson King Foundation. Actually, he was recently honored as one of JCI USA's Ten Outstanding Young Americans of the Year!

We're so lucky to have someone like Carson representing Iowa and showing the world what "Iowa Nice" is all about! You can read more about his story and make a donation to his foundation on the official website HERE.
