Cedar Rapids Announces Free Christmas Dinner for Veterans
We are officially in the season of giving, and as we can all attest, no one has given more than our veterans, the men, and women who have bravely and courageously served in our United States Armed Forces.
Many of them are alone at the holidays or don't have the means to celebrate the way the rest of us can. If anyone deserves it, it's them. So, the Cedar Rapids Veterans Memorial Commission is proud to honor them with the annual "Veterans Holiday Meal For Veterans and Friends".
It will take place this Wednesday, December 15. Serving starts at 4:30 p.m. with free live music at 5. Naturally, the entire event is free and open to veterans and friends. Just stop by the Veterans Memorial Building on the 2nd Avenue Bridge in downtown Cedar Rapids.
In addition, Park Cedar Rapids is offering free parking on the 2nd Avenue Bridge, beginning at 4 p.m. as an additional gift to our veterans attending the event. According to a City of Cedar Rapids media release, "a traditional holiday meal and some great music will be provided at no cost."
It's all put together this year by Hy-Vee Johnson Avenue, CR Care Committee, Park CR, and the Hubcaps with veterans and their families welcome.
We wish to thank all of our veterans, active military, and their family and friends, wishing them a safe and Merry Christmas and we of course thank all the organizers for setting up this event again this year in the Coliseum at the Veterans Memorial Building.
