Spring, let alone summer, can get here any time, am I right?

With, believe it or not, a Winter Storm Warning in our forecast and another blast of measurable snow, the light at the end of the tunnel is looking farther and farther away. But, I swear on my Mother's grave, it WILL get here. How do I know? The Cedar Rapids  Metro Economic Alliance has just unveiled the schedule for the Downtown Cedar Rapids' Farmers' Markets!

All the information you need to know about volunteering at the markets or setting up your booth if you'd like to be a vendor can be found here.

It's happening, as always, on scheduled Saturdays throughout the summer, from 7:30 a.m.-noon. Let's take a look at the dates:

  • May 26
  • June 2
  • June 16
  • July 7
  • July 21
  • August 4
  • August 18
  • September 1

In between those last two dates is the Market After Dark, the once-a-year evening edition of the Farmers' Market. Learn more about that August 25 event here. Clarksville, Iowa native and current American Idol finalist Maddie Poppe has even been announced to kick off the festivities starting at 6:30 p.m. that evening.  Be advised that this is also a less kid-friendly event than the daytime version.

Let's get ready to wake up, smell the fresh, locally-grown flowers and produce, enjoy those breakfast burritos, gourmet coffee, popcorn and other treats and festivities including FREE live entertainment downtown all summer long. Get ready for the Farmers' Market!
