Cedar Rapids History Center to Reopen with Limited Hours

The Cedar Rapids History Center, which is now located in the historic Douglas Mansion in Cedar Rapids will reopen its doors to the general public on a limited basis in a few weeks, according to KCRG.

The History Center's address is 800 2nd Ave. SE. It has been closed due to the pandemic but a few opportunities for visitors to return have been announced with safety precautions in place.

They will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 11, 18, and 25.

You'll be required to wear a face mask, and if you don't have one, the History Center staff will provide one. Hand sanitizer will be required and provided as well, and the new normal 6 feet of distance apart between patrons and groups is encouraged.

According to the History Center website, visits to the facility on the above dates require reservations. You can book a group of up to 10 at this time. A one-way path will be laid out for visitors to follow.

For a more personal opportunity to enjoy the History Center, you can book walking or biking tours on July 7. An outdoor version of their grown-up show and tell is available July 14 as well. Attendees will be limited to 20 for the program and can begin arriving for that at 5: 30 p.m. It will start at 6 and it's an opportunity for you to brag up your own personal or historic Cedar Rapids artifacts.
