A lot of bad things have happened as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, but there have been some bright spots in all the darkness!

Many celebrities, authors, and others across the globe have taken part in a new trend that involves children's books. Basically, people just record videos of themselves reading popular children's stories, and those videos are then posted online for parents everywhere to utilize. Why? Because entertaining your kids during quarantine can sometimes be pretty difficult! According to USA Today:

"Actors, comics, and authors are reading to and entertaining children online and on social media, hoping to give parents some respite. When a little one asks for it to be read again, you just need to hit refresh."

Storyline Online, Save With Stories, and the hashtag Operation Storytime are all sources for these videos.

This week, the Cedar Rapids Police Department jumped on the new trend and posted a video to social media of their staff reading a children's book. The video begins with a couple of the officers paying tribute to the legendary show 'Mister Rogers' Neighborhood,' before leading into a very entertaining read of The Wonky Donkey by Craig Smith. There are sound effects and everything! Check out the video, courtesy of the CRPD Facebook page:
