Cedar Rapids Needs Set Hours for Trick-or-Treating
Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, which means we could be seeing trick-or-treating start very early this weekend. That whole idea didn't resonate with me until our poll asking you: what is the appropriate time to start trick-or-treating?
My thought would be, no matter the day of the week on which Halloween falls, the 5-6 p.m. range would be best time to start trick-or-treating. But why aren't there set trick-or-treating times in a city this size (and if there are, by all means correct me if I'm wrong)? Not to be a downer, but I ask in part because of our increasing crime and safety concerns.
Obviously each resident has a choice as to how early and how long they accept trick-or-treaters, but that doesn't always stop people from trying at any given hour, and it can get kind of aggravating. So, my suggestion would be something like a 5-8 p.m. trick-or-treating window, regardless of the day of the week.
