This eatery has been in the works for over a year now.

In March of 2023, the team behind a new business called Don Gomez Mexican Grilled Chicken posted to Facebook for the very first time.

Now, a year after that initial post and a whole lot of work later, the owner is finally getting ready to open.

A Little About the Restaurant

The team behind the new restaurant in Cedar Falls are trying to bring Mexican-style grilled chicken to Eastern Iowa!

Don Gomez Mexican Grilled Chicken is a family-operated restaurant that was founded by alumni from the University of Northern Iowa.

According to the restaurant's website, the eatery will be more of a "fast-casual concept."

This eatery will specialize in takeout/catering however they are eager to welcome in customers for a sit-down experience.

"While our focus is on providing delicious meals to-go, we also welcome guests to dine in and savor our flavorful offerings alongside our refreshing aguas frescas."

The restaurant will be located at 4302 University Avenue in Cedar Falls.

When Will Don Gomez Open for Business?

On Tuesday, March 19th the business announced on their Facebook page that they would be opening for business this week! The team did not reveal the exact date that they would be welcoming in customers to their new establishment.

Their plan is to have a soft opening this week (week of March 18th) so they can get the hang of things, fine-tune their recipes, and train staff.
