Students in the Clear Creek Amana School District have reason to be proud. The principal of the high school in the district has been named the Iowa High School Principal of the Year.

Principal Mark Moody has been at his position at Clear Creek Amana High School for the past ten years. He said that the students there are great, but that the staff at the school are the ones that really make the difference. He stated that it all makes it "a pretty great place to be."

Moody joined the staff at Clear Creek Amana High back in 2005 as a teacher and a football coach. He eventually became the school's vice principal and then principal. Before that Moody taught at West High in Iowa City and Bettendorf Middle School and Lincoln High in Des Moines.

Moody was nominated and selected by his peers. He'll be recognized in May at the Governor's Awards ceremony.
