Love Lavender? Get Ready for an Eastern Iowa Lavender Festival
A farm in Linn County will be hosting a big event in their lavender fields this summer! Get ready for the Pine Hill Farm Lavender Festival!
Pine Hill is a family farm in Walker, Iowa that "specializes in cultivating exceptional cut flowers and crafting exquisite items using the bounties of our farm." The farm is only open to the public for special events, but they do have a self-serve farm stand on the property that offers fresh flowers and farm produce year-round. They also sell their products at local farmers' markets.
One of the big events at Pine Hill Farm this year is their first ever Lavender Festival. Guests will be able to actually visit the lavender fields during peak bloom! The event is scheduled for Saturday, July 13th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will include train rides for the kids, food by Wescott BBQ, face painting, fresh-cut flower arrangements & lavender bundles, homemade lavender soap & candles, local vendors, and more. There will also be separate events surrounding the festival, including a catered dinner, art classes, and morning & evening yoga sessions, all in the lavender field!
Another way you can visit the lavender fields at Pine Hill Farm is by scheduling a private photography session. Photographers are welcome to book the lavender field for photo sessions beginning in July. The fee is $100 for each family and can be scheduled by emailing pinehillfarmiowa@gmail.com. You can read more about that HERE.
Over the past several years, quite a few sunflower fields have been popping up in the area for photo shoots, so it's cool to see that there's another option! For the latest updates on Pine Hill Farm's Lavender Festival, you can follow the official event page HERE.
