Every couple of years, news comes out of a television reporter/anchor in our area moving on to their next step. It's a common occurrence in the television news industry. People work their way up to their dream media markets and unfortunately have to say goodbye to the city that taught them a whole bunch.

KWWL Today In Iowa Anchor Alaina Kwan announced earlier this month that it was time for her to move on.

Kwan started working for KWWL in the summer of 2020, according to the station website. Nearly three years later, she is setting out on a new adventure. Originally from Southern California, the news anchor studied Broadcast Journalism at the University of Kentucky.

In mid February, Kwan made a post on her social media accounts announcing her upcoming departure from Waterloo.

She said on Instagram,

"After 3 years of telling Eastern Iowa’s stories, it’s bittersweet for me to say that my time at KWWL is coming to an end. It has been an honor serving the Cedar Valley and the region. Thank you Hawkeye nation for waking up with me and making this place feel like home."

Her last day on the air will be Wednesday, March 1st.

Kwan did not reveal yet where she is headed off to. In her social media statement she did confirm that more information would be coming out very soon.

We will keep you updated when more details come out about her next step.
