I recently owed over $100 in Cedar Rapids parking tickets. I couldn't believe I had racked up such a huge tab forgetting to "feed the meter." I wasn't excited to pay that kind of money right before the holidays. Thankfully, I didn't have to.

This holiday season, Park Cedar Rapids has a very cool promotion to help clear up old parking tickets, and help those in need. Instead of paying cash for the tickets, they are allowing people to drop off donations for area homeless shelters and forgiving the citations in return.

Like I said, I owed over $100. I went to Target and purchased some items from the list and now, I have a zero balance. I saved some money and helped people in need. Here is full list of the items they are accepting.  CLICK HERE FOR THE FULL LIST

The event will run until December 23rd. You can drop your donations off at 349 4th Avenue SE, in Cedar Rapids. For more information, call 319-365-7275. Here's a pic of a few of the items I dropped off the other day.

If you have a bunch of parking tickets, I hope you take advantage of this great program. Like I said, you have until December 23rd to take advantage of this great opportunity to erase the slate and help those in need.
