If you build it, they will come. To eat and enjoy the experience of a lifetime.

The real bummer of a summer that's been 2020 has seen its share of cancellations and postponements. The Field of Dreams in Dyersville was all set to host its first-ever Major League Baseball game, which was first set to feature the Chicago White Sox and New York Yankees. Then, because of a shortened season and travel restrictions set forth by MLB, another Midwest team stepped in to replace the Yankees. Cardinals-Sox was right down the wire to take place and then the league nixed it altogether.

Fans and organizers were disappointed, but safety was of utmost concern for all. Now there's a new opportunity for fans and tourists to enjoy the legendary experience.

Management at the Field of Dreams site is teaming with a group called Diamond. They are based in Rhode Island but they are offering an experience to have dinner of the film and tourist site.

"Hang out in the outfield and enjoy stadium fare" according to the Des Moines Register, like tenderloins, pork chops, and corn on the cob.  Should the weather not cooperate, they'll move the event indoors to the newly renovated barn/event center. You do have to register. You can do that here, where they also have the menu and prices for their a la carte items.

This will make a great Fall family or date night opportunity. Tables will be set up  socially-distanced on the available dates. "Dining on the Diamond" at Field of Dreams dates are September 18-20, 25, and 27 and then October 2-4, and 16-18. Times for each date are 5 p.m., 6:30 and 8.
