If you're looking to get out of town and don't want to spend a bunch of cash, now is the time to do it.

I checked flights on Allegiant the other day going from Cedar Rapids to Las Vegas. I was stunned when I saw how inexpensive the ticket prices were!  My search leaving from CID on a Friday would cost just $51. The return flight on Monday, 3 days later, was the same price, $51.

That's just $102 round trip to travel to "Sin City" for the weekend!

But there is a catch to all of this. In case you didn't know, Vegas is pretty dead.

I had friends visit last week and they said it was awful. Because of the pandemic, the bars and breweries are all closed. Some of the casinos are open, but not all of them. You have to wear a mask and most poker tables have glass between the players and it's kind of a hassle to play.

There are no clubs, the nightlife is dead and it's a pretty bad vibe. My friend told me, "Our trip sucked, we were ready to come home after the second day."

My friend was also bummed that the pool was closed at his hotel. He said that a number of properties have closed their pool because of COVID-19. They ended up spending a lot of time in their hotel room.

And if you do take advantage of the cheap air, I hope you have good luck!

Just don't double down on a hard 12 against a King.
