Over half the state of Iowa will be under a FREEZE WARNING tonight into Saturday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Des Moines, as low temps in the Waterloo-area will bottom-out around 29*. The chance of frost will continue into next week.

The NWS in Des Moines says that the record low for May 9, is 27*. That temp was set in 1945.

The coldest that it has ever been on any date in May in Waterloo is 22*. It's happened twice, in 2005 and 1907.
