A routine traffic stop in Blackhawk County led to 3 arrests and the seizure of 4 weapons.

According to KWWL, "Three people were arrested and are now facing multiple charges after police seized multiple guns during a traffic stop."

This all went down on Sunday, May 10th, in the Waterloo area at Grant Avenue and West 5th Street. Officers pulled over a vehicle with one driver and 2 passengers. Officers saw a handgun in plain view, and that's how the incident was started.

When police searched the vehicle, they found three more guns. Counting the weapon officers saw in plain view, four handguns were seized.

The story didn't say, but we can only assume the guns weren't properly registered and this is why the suspects were arrested.

But the KWWL story did note that one of the guns was actually stolen during a robbery back in 1989. That incident was in Oelwein, Iowa. To read the full story, check out this link from KWWL television.

The suspects are now being held and will face a laundry list of charges. We will continue to follow this story and provide updates as soon as more information is released.
