Heat Advisory on Saturday
The National Weather Service in Des Moines has issued a HEAT ADVISORY for most of the state on Saturday from 1 PM to 8 PM.
The high temperatures in the Cedar Valley will reach the mid-90s with an expected heat index of 105* to 110*.
The NWS says:
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
Nine counties in Northwestern Iowa are under an 'Excessive Heat Watch."
An Excessive Heat Watch means that Heat Index values are expected to reach or exceed 110°F* and not fall below 75°F* for at least a 48 hour period.
Waterloo has already had NINE days of 90*+ this month and a total of 14 days of 90*+ heat this year.
FYI: The all-time record high temp in Waterloo is 112* set on July 12 and July 13 in 1936.
The hottest temperature record in Iowa was July 20th, 1934 in Keokuk when it was a sweltering 118*.
