Hy-Vee Issues Recall On Chicken Street Taco Kits

If you have an allergy to eggs and recently purchased a Hy-Vee Chicken Taco Kit, you may want to toss that because Hy-Vee is recalling all of their Chicken Taco Kits. Hy-Vee is voluntarily recalling the kits, and so it their supplier, because eggs were not declared on the label.

On Wednesday, officials from Hy-Vee announced via press release that they are voluntarily recalling its Chicken Street Taco Kit because of a recall issued by its supplier Reser’s Fine Foods. Hy-Vee stores received bulk Chicken Street Taco Kits from Reser’s Fine Foods and repackaged them into Hy-Vee Chicken Street Taco kits.

The bulk kits contained a Chipotle Crema Sauce which contains egg. The egg in the sauce was not declared on the label. Those who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to eggs run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

Hy-Vee officials say the voluntary recall includes the Hy-Vee Chicken Street Taco Kits which were sold in Hy-Vee deli cases in black, plastic trays with clear plastic lids and a “Best If Use By” date prior to May 27, 2021 (located on top of label).

Officials say that the Hy-Vee Chicken Street Taco Kits were distributed by Hy-Vee grocery stores across its eight-state region of Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

To date, there have been no reports of illness or complaints involving the Hy-Vee Chicken Street Taco Kits, according to the release.

Customers with an egg allergy or sensitivity who have purchased the kits are urged not to consume the product. They should dispose of it, or return it to their local Hy-Vee store for a full refund.
