Hurricane Idalia Slams Florida as a Category 3 Monster Storm
Hurricane Idalia has made landfall along the Florida coast as a life-threatening category 3 storm bringing devastating wind and flooding to the Sunshine State.
The National Weather Service is tracking Hurricane Idalia as it crosses Florida and Georgia. It reportedly made landfall as a category 3 hurricane and has already caused terrible flooding across much of Florida.
NOAA's latest update shows Hurricane Idalia is still maintaining 90 mph sustained wind speeds even as it makes its way across the southeastern United States.
News crews from the TODAY Show shared video of the hurricane blowing over a billboard that was near them.
It's possible that Hurricane Idalia could hit Florida twice as there are certain NOAA forecast models that show it regaining strength once it enters the Atlantic Ocean and possibly looping around and hitting the eastern part of the state. USA Today mentioned the possibility and documented how another hurricane did this same thing years ago.
As this is a developing story, it will be updated as new information and video are being released.
