In my mind, biting is something little kids do when they don't know better. Kind of like a puppy. Back in the day, adults wouldn't attempt a move like that unless they were desperate. Drunk Fight Turns Into Thumb Biting

According to patch.com,

Sean Marchese, 29, of Lombard, was cited about 2 a.m. Sunday at York Street and Cayuga Avenue on a charge of disorderly conduct.

 

According to a police report, an intoxicated Marchese was in an argument, which turned physical when he bit another person's thumb.

 

Well, at least the guy's thumb didn't get completely bitten off.
