Cedar Rapids natives Landon Cassill and Joey Gase were both involved in wrecks during Sunday's Daytona 500. But both were able to patch up their cars and finish the race. Cassill finished 16th, his second highest finishing position at Daytona. Gase, driving the #23 car finished in, you guessed it, 23rd place.

Kurt Busch took the checkered flag on Sunday. But most people were talking about the new rules and 'stages' to this year's race. Was it to blame for all the wrecks? Cassill and Gase said they weren't sure. Both thought it was just the unpredictability of restrictor plate racing.

Both Cassill and Gase had issues with the new five-minute rule to get a car ready after a wreck. Cassill and his crew went over the mark, but his crew chief objected and Cassill was eventually cleared. Gase finished his repairs just under the five-minute mark.

At the end of the day, with cars patched with tape, both were happy to finish the race.
