‘Sign Stealing’ Drama After Davenport Northwest’s Win In Little League World Series

Is it really kids' sports without drama?

Last week, Davenport Northwest Little League team represented the state of Iowa playing Wisconsin, the game resulting in a berth in the Little League World Series in Williamsport.

Iowa won it in a dramatic finish.

Now, the argument is that Iowa players were 'sign stealing' from Wisconsin. They're saying that Iowa runners who were on 2nd base were pulling on their helmet to signal to the batter what the Wisconsin catcher's pitch signs were.

During the game, Wisconsin manager Kyle Fox went to the home-plate umpire and told him that Iowa kids were "taking signs on second". The official didn't take action.

So now that Iowa won the game 7-6 (after gripping extra innings), everyone online has opinions on this. Many say it's just part of baseball, some say it's illegal in Little League.

Upon research, sign stealing in baseball began in 1876.

Either way, Davenport Northwest is still headed to Williamsport to play in the Little League World Series. We represent the Midwest region in the series. We're proud of our Iowa boys!
