The inaugural season of Waterloo's very own Arena League Football team was off to a bit of a slow start.

Last year it was announced that the Cedar Valley would be hosting a team named the Iowa Woo.

With their first season coming to an end, the team is trying to bring home some hardware.

At the Iowa Woo's media day at the Waterloo Convention Center on Thursday, August 8th every member of the team expressed their eagerness to prove themselves this season.

On Saturday, August 3rd the Woo beat the best team in the Arena League, the Kansas City Goats.

Now the players who have called the Cedar Valley home this season are off to ArenaMania I, the league's championship game.

"We believe that when we come back, we are coming back as champions," said head coach Mook Zimmerman.

"...we have an obligation and a responsibility to bring a championship to the Cedar Valley, right here to Waterloo."

The team ended their regular season with a 1-7 record.

However, in a surprising turn of events, the Woo are actually on their way to be league champions!

During the regular season, the team averaged 176.9 receiving yards, 458.1 offensive yards, and 105 solo tackles per game, according to reports.

The Woo are headed to Minnesota to play the Duluth Harbor Monsters at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center on Saturday, August 10th.

Good luck to the Cedar Valley's own Iowa Woo in the championship game!

One of the team's owners, Jeff Holmes confirmed that the Woo would be returning to the Hippodrome for all of their home games in the 2025 season.
