Kurt Warner and Peyton Manning Were in Cedar Falls This Week?!
Kurt Warner is a legend in Iowa for many reasons -- he played collegiate football at UNI, went on to play for the Iowa Barnstormers in the Arena Football League, and eventually, became one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history when he won the Super Bowl with the St. Louis Rams in 2000 and became the NFL MVP a year later.
Oh, and he used to work at Hy-Vee.
Mostly due to the illustrious career that Warner had at the professional level, he's gone on to make quite a few connections.
In a partnership with ESPN, one of his NFL cohorts, Peyton Manning, has started traveling across the country to learn about where previous NFL stars came from. He shares their stories and highlights some bits and pieces of the areas they're from.
Last night in Cedar Falls, it was speculated that Warner and Manning made their way to the Hy-Vee on University for part of Warner's episode of Peyton's Place. KWWL later reported that their appearance at the Iowa-based grocery chain was for a commercial.
Of course, folks took to social media to share their sightings of the pair in the Cedar Valley.
Former Iowa Hawkeye Dallas Clark even made an appearance in the Cedar Valley
A movie summarising Warner's rise from low-level Division I football to winning the Super Bowl is currently being shown on the big screen across the country: American Underdog.
Believe it or not, I recently had an interaction with Warner on Twitter myself (see below). It would have been a hell of a lot cooler to meet him in person in Cedar Falls, but hey, I'm not jealous at all. I don't know why you're asking. Why would I be jealous of meeting an Iowa football legend who went to three Super Bowls and graduated from my alma mater and is widely regarded as an incredible human being and was an NFL MVP? Nah, I'm not that kind of person.
