I don't know why, but I have been REALLY into the Winter Olympics this year. In the past few days, I've tuned into men's slopestyle, women's hockey, men's luge, and the free-style partner figure skate. The figure skating is my absolute favorite. These people are dancing and throwing each other around in the air... ON ICE. WEARING TINY METAL BLADES ON THEIR FEET. If that doesn't impress you, nothing will.

One event I haven't had a chance to watch yet this year is curling. It seems to be a favorite across the country, but especially here in Iowa. I didn't know this, but there is actually a Cedar Rapids Curling Club, and they will be hosting several "Learn to Curl" events!

If you've ever been interested in curling, the "Learn to Curl" dates at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena are:

  • February 20th - 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. & 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • February 27th - 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. & 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • March 4th - 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. & 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The cost is $10 for non-members and all the curling equipment will be provided. You are asked to bring a clean pair of athletic shoes to change into and to dress in warm and loose clothing. For more details on the events and to get registered, click HERE.
