A Linn County road construction project that will impact traffic with detours, and last most of the year, launches on Monday, March 9.

According to a media release from the Iowa Department of Transportation, Highway 151 will be closed in both directions in Fairfax starting Monday morning at 7 a.m. The closure will be for repairs on the large railroad overpass between Church St. and Prairie Ave. in Fairfax. Highway 151, near mile marker 22, is expected to be closed with detours in place, until mid-November.

Here is information on the detours:

  • Southbound traffic will be detoured on US 30 East to I-380 South to Wright Brothers Blvd. West to US 151 South
  • Northbound traffic will be detoured on Wright Brothers Blvd. East to I-380 North to US 30 West to IA 151 South

Local traffic will be able to navigate the closure with city streets in Fairfax. A portion of Highway 151 north of the closure area will remain open to local traffic, via temporary pavement.
