Another longtime Eastern Iowa restaurant is being forced to close its doors due to the ongoing worker shortage that continues to plague the entire industry.

KWWL reports that Pusateri's, an American and Italian restaurant located on Central Avenue in Dubuque, is closing up shop due to the ongoing worker shortage. The restaurant has been in Dubuque for over 70 years. They shared the tough news via the restaurant's Facebook page.

According to the restaurant's Facebook page, this past Saturday was the last day in business for Pusateri's. The restaurant served a variety of meals, but a large number of comments stated that they were best known for their pizza. They also served Italian dinners like lasagna, manicotti, and ravioli.

Just how long the current situation lasts for restaurants and businesses is anyone's guess. Thousands of restaurants have closed since 2020 because of a lack of employees. Dayton247Now reports that 47 million workers quit their jobs in 2021. Some experts have called it the 'Great Resignation.' Workers want better jobs and wages and have left traditional workplaces, like the restaurant industry, out in the cold.
