There might not be a better place for a vineyard and winery in Iowa, than along the picturesque Mississippi River. Especially during the fall, when the colors of the leaves are lit up by the sun. A popular winery in Dubuque has now closed its doors for good.

Sunset Ridge Winery is located amongst the hills of the Mississippi River Valley. Their Facebook page announced that the couple who owned the operation had announced their retirement back in late September. They planned on traveling and enjoying their twilight years. They stated that the winery would remain open until October 30th. However, Sunset Ridge's latest Facebook post states that as of this past weekend, they are now closed for good.

Sunset Ridge sold out of all their wine! No reason to stay open if the wine is gone! The couple, John and Chris, thanked customers for 11 years of service. Other than their fantastic wines, they also served food, and their menu featured items like cheese, sausages, crackers, and pizzas.

Needless to say, many loyal customers are devastated that the couple is hanging it up. Sunset Ridge also featured live music on weekends and had also become a popular spot for wedding receptions, especially during the fall months.

While we hate to see this beautiful winery close, we certainly wish the owners a happy retirement. Something tells me they just might have saved a few bottles of wine for themselves!
