Man Fired After Attempting To Drive Through Protestors At Hy-Vee

An employee of Wyckoff Comfort has been fired after a video that turned up on Twitter showed the man trying to drive through a group of protestors at the Hy-Vee store on 14th street in Des Moines on Saturday. This according to the Des Moines Register.

The man was later identified as Jeff Boucher. According to a statement from Wyckoff, Boucher was fired on Monday.

After a meeting with our managers this morning, we have determined that it was necessary to fire Jeff Boucher, effective immediately.

His actions over the weekend were unacceptable and do not represent the values that Wyckoff has built our business on. Wyckoff dissaproves of his behavior and in no way condones his actions. Wyckoff is a family owned company founded on the principles of always doing the right thing for the betterment of our customers and the community.

We sincerely appologize for this unfortunate situation and will do our best to educate our employees to make sure something like this doesn't happen again.

On Sunday, Wyckoff said that it was aware of the situation that happened at the Hy-Vee store and said that it would announce any decision publicly.

The Saturday protest was in support of a former employee who claimed she experienced racial discrimination at work. You can see the video of the encounter HERE. Officers with the Des Moines police department said that no arrests or citations were issued in response to the protest on Saturday.
