Marion Releases Trick-Or-Treat Recommendations
While some cities, like Waterloo, have said 'no' to trick-or-treating this Halloween, the City of Marion has released recommendations for this year's fun, courtesy of Linn County Public Health.
In Marion, trick-or-treating happens on Halloween itself. That's an easy one this year, with October 31 landing on a Saturday. However, the act of trick-or-treating may be different in 2020, like most everything else.
The rule of thumb always is if you want to hand out treats to costumed kids, you should turn on your porch light. When you're done, turn the light off. That's the simple part.
Going door-to-door this Halloween? The city says you might consider limiting those in your group to just those in your immediate household. If you're handing out goodies, the city says you "might consider contactless delivery of treats."
Linn County Public Health offers these tips:
- Stay at least 6 feet away from others outside of your household, when possible.
- Wear a cloth face covering or mask when physical distancing isn't possible.
- Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use a hand sanitizer containing at least 60 percent alcohol if soap and water aren't available.
- Cover coughs and sneezes with tissue or inside of your elbow.
- Stay home when you're sick, no matter how mild the illness may be.
- Frequently disinfect used items and surfaces as much as possible.
More Halloween information and recommendations are available from the Iowa Department of Public Health and CDC.
Have fun and be safe!
