Apparently, the city of Marion and the YMCA are looking for something a little more catchy than "Marion YMCA" for the new state-of-the-art facility being built on the corner of Tower Terrace Road and Irish Drive.

Unlike the downtown Y in Cedar Rapids, whose naming rights were easy as it was dubbed the "Helen G. Nassif YMCA" after a major private donor, the new 7,000-square foot recreation and fitness center is being funded through a 7.3 million dollar lead investment by the City of Marion.

According to CBS2, the name should reflect both the YMCA brand and the idea that it's Marion's fitness and community center.

The facility will include increased programming space for the YMCA and City of Marion Parks and Recreation Department while allowing for new opportunities for hosting athletic tournaments and community meetings.

If you think have an idea for what to call this new resource in Marion, you can submit your ideas to this website.
