Monticello Schools Briefly Go Online-Only After 4 Positive Cases

Today and tomorrow, according to KCRG, Monticello Schools will flip to an online-only learning model for all students because of confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 within the district.

Over 140 students have been quarantined after the four positive cases were discovered and confirmed. The district has additionally heard calls and reports from parents of their kids exhibiting symptoms. These students were tested and they and their families are still waiting on results. District officials want to remind parents to take the symptoms and if there's any doubt, keep your kids home when they are sick. Symptoms they say to watch for include cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, fever, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell, nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea.

Today, September 8 and Wednesday, September 9 are mentioned as the online-only learning days so far, but several activities and practices have also been canceled.

All cross-country, volleyball and football competitions for this week will shut down and practices canceled on Tuesday and Wednesday. We'll hear more later in the week if other days' classes, practices and activities will be canceled for Thursday and Friday and keep you up to date.

A Facebook post from the district says students can pick up a lunch that will be charged to their school account from 11-11:30 each day in-person learning is closed. Find out more below.
