Moving In Circles In Hiawatha
I love living in Hiawatha. It's a safe, family-friendly quiet community with beautiful neighborhoods.
But for the last several months it's become a-maze-ing. As in, a maze around certain areas where a resurfacing project has been going on.
Independent contractors have been working to resurface 12th Avenue to Blairs Ferry Road, a major connection for many people to get anywhere in Hiawatha, myself included.
Thankfully, it finally looks like the end may be in sight. A Facebook post from the City of Hiawatha states the contractors may be done this week, but have until November 27thto finish the project without penalty.
Meanwhile, it's been making traffic hell on major roads in town including Emmons Street starting at 10th ave.
It doesn't look like the road's closed and a few brave souls occasionally drive through it. The rest of us must detour either left back towards Blairs Ferry or right to Guthridge Park and head down Lyndhurst Dr. if you're going that way, where you'll see a number of these signs.
Talk about traffic congestion, because you CAN park on the other side of that road.
That takes right back to 12th, where this is the view toward Blairs Ferry. It doesn't look like there's much left to do! Fingers crossed.
My dog wants it done soon because it messes up his normal walk route, and while we know it's going to be great once it's done, us Hiawathans are ready to see the finished product.
