After spending the last few weeks getting to know the "real" Cedar Rapids, I thought it was time to review the 2011 movie and see how Hollywood perceives this small Midwestern town.

I knew that the movie was not really "about" Cedar Rapids, and most of it probably wasn't even filmed here. But despite being raunchy at times, it really is a sweet little movie. So I think its fair to say that the movie and the town it is named for are both award-winners in my mind.

This early scene wins me over as a reminder that we are all, at times, a bit socially awkward.

Choo-choo!

Sometimes we say what we mean, and mean what we say. Sometimes it just comes out wrong...which can be hilarious.

We've all had to face our fears at one time or another...and sometimes we fail.

This next one has a little salty language, but it's one of my favorite scenes!

Finally, the support and help we offer others always pays off.

So I've come to conclude that "Cedar Rapids" is a fair representation of the spirit of the city and its people. And it's not just a great place to visit, it a great place to call home!
