New Cedar Rapids Hotel and Restaurant Now Open

A new Cedar Rapids hotel has finally opened its doors, after dealing with unprecedented challenges. First came the pandemic, supply chain issues, and a great disruption in the hospitality industry. Then, just months from opening last August, the derecho dealt a huge setback to the new hotel's construction. After all the hurdles, they've opened up.

The beautiful Hilton Garden Inn in northeast Cedar Rapids is located at 4640 N. River Blvd NE, just south of Highway 100, and west of Edgewood Road. The new hotel features 100 guest rooms that include a work desk and chair, a mini-fridge, microwave, and Keurig coffee maker. The property also has an indoor pool, complimentary Wi-Fi, and a state-of-the-art fitness center that has extra space between machines.

The Hilton Garden Inn opening also brings a new restaurant offering to Cedar Rapids. The Garden Grille & Bar is open to the public and features both lobby and patio seating for the warmer days ahead. According to a media release from the Lloyd Companies, who developed, built, and manages the property, breakfast will be buffet-style or made-to-order. The dinner menu will feature locally-inspired dishes that are created by the restaurant's executive chef and appetizers and a full bar will be available in the evening lounge.

The new hotel has a ballroom that accommodates up to 250 people and Director of Sales Shaun Clasen says interest has been strong. She's also excited about the guest bookings the Hilton Garden Inn has already received:
