North Linn Schools to Re-Open Next Week
Chances are your kids are at least three weeks into the new school year. That, unfortunately, is not the case in the North Linn Community School District. Problems in some of the district buildings have prompted a delay but the district has set a new start date for classes.
KWWL reports that the district has a tentative re-opening date of Monday, September 12th. That date could still be pushed back pending the outcome of fire alarm certification in the buildings. The delay comes after the district discovered unhealthy asbestos levels in school buildings.
In an update on the school district's Facebook page, the school says that teachers have returned to their classrooms to work. Fire alarm certification should take place by the end of the week, according to KWWL. An update will be posted on Friday to alert parents on whether the district passed.
The post states that elementary students can bring their school supplies with them on the first day and that parents are more than welcome to take their students to class that day. Students in grades 6th through 12th should meet in the gym before heading to their homeroom.
