HAPPY OCTOBER FIRST! Halloween is on its way!

As an adult, Halloween is more about costumes and parties, but as a kid, the number one thing on my mind was always candy. One of my favorite childhood memories is sitting in a circle with my friends, dumping out our pillowcases full of treats, and then trying to convince them to trade me all their good stuff. It didn't always work.

A survey of over 2,000 people from Bid-On-Equipment revealed the most popular Halloween candy in all 50 states, and not surprisingly, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups was the number one overall answer. It was the top choice in 12 states, including Iowa and Missouri. Minnesota's pick was Snickers, Wisconsin chose Pretzel M&M's, South Dakota loves gummy worms, Nebraska picked Hot Tamales, and Illinois is all about Jolly Ranchers.

The survey also found that the average person spends $25.64 on Halloween candy, with parents spending around $10 more. 81% of the people surveyed prefer to hand out candy, with only 12% just leaving a bowl out on the porch. I live in an apartment, so I never get to hand out candy. I kind of miss it!
