ABC's new mini-series "Greatest Hits" premiered last night, and there were some very interesting performances.

Hits of the 80s was the theme last night on "Greatest Hits," which brought out some faces you may not have seen in awhile. Rick Springfield, REO Speedwagon, Kool & the Gang, Kenny Loggins, and more made their way to the stage to sing their hit songs, but there were also a few newer faces. Jason Derulo was my favorite performance of the night with his rendition of Micheal Jackson's "Human Nature," and Pitbull came out for a (totally lip-synced) duet with REO Speedwagon.

Overall, I thought the show was entertaining, but way too over-the-top. I mean, it was cool to see some of these artists back on stage, but every single thing felt so fake and forced. I'm pretty positive that the crowd was made up entirely of people who were asked to show as much excitement and be as over-enthusiastic as humanly possible, no matter what song was on. It was obvious that they weren't always familiar with the songs. Sometimes it felt almost embarrassing (and trust me, I know all about acting embarrassing at concerts).  It also felt like the audio was altered for some of the artists, with some of the artists (Pitbull), not even trying to sing live. Yes, I understand the show was taped months ago, but I mean that it wasn't live when it was being taped. Not one second of it felt comfortable or natural for me. I will say, though, that Kelsea Ballerini did a pretty good job hosting for her first gig. It's never easy the first time, and my guess is that she'll keep improving.

Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I'm being too critical and negative and I should just accept it for what it is. That's my opinion though, and I'll be interested to see if it changes over the course of the next five episodes. This is only the first one, after all! Despite the things I didn't like, I will be watching again. Check out some of last night's performances, and let me know what you think!
