Saturday night was KHAK/Teacher Appreciation Night at the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders where the team honored area educators. Not only did they celebrate teachers at the game, but they also gave some educators the chance to win cash for their school!

Six metro schools were invited to 'Dash For Cash' after the first period of the game against Des Monies. After the first period, a rug was laid out on the ice and had $2,500 in fake cash sprinkled all over it. The six school representatives had 60 seconds to grab as much fake cash as they could. How ever much they were able to grab, was what they earned for their school. Watch as each rep scrambles to stuff as much cash in as many places as they can before the clock runs out!

The school that walked away with the most was Pierce Elementary in Cedar Rapids which received $800! Check out all of the schools that participated and their final totals below.

  • Westfield Elementary (Linn-Mar Schools)- $271
  • Prairie Creek Intermediate (College Community Schools)- $250
  • Pierce Elementary (Cedar Rapids)- $800
  • Harding Middle School (Cedar Rapids)- $298
  • Prairie Hill Elementary (College Community)- $488
  • Bowman Woods Elementary (Linn-Mar)- $286

Thanks to the Roughriders for hosting the Dash and to Hills Bank for sponsoring! Also a big thanks to all of our area educators out there for everything they do on a daily basis.
