Shania Twain can sing, but can she act? In short, the answer is yes!

The country superstar made her acting debut in the 2019 film Trading Paint alongside John Travolta and is returning to the screen in Lionsgate's I Still Believe, the follow-up to 2018 indie hit I Can Only Imagine.

Twain will join actors Britt Robertson (Girlboss), Melissa Roxburgh (Manifest), Nathan Dean Parsons (Roswell, New Mexico), K.J. Apa (Riverdale) and more in the faith-based film, directed by Jon and Andrew Erwin.

Relive the Most Epic Movie Scenes Starring Country Stars

The film is a biopic of real-life Christian music star Jeremy Camp (played by Apa), who embarks on a journey of love and loss throughout the film. In real life, Camp is a Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter who has sold more than five million albums, landed 38 No. 1 songs and was named twice in the top 10 of Billboard’s Christian Artist of the Decade chart (Christian songs, Christian song artists).

In the film, Twain plays the role of Camp's mother, Terry Camp. Twain, who released her comeback album Now in 2017, turns 54 this year (August 2019) and in a past interview, reflected on her life while turning a half-century.

"It was definitely a mark in time, psychologically. I reflected a lot on, 'Wow, 50 years have gone by,'" Twain told Parade. "It made me more thoughtful about where I’d come from and where I started more than about the actual number. It was a time of reflection and gratitude. It’s a little bit like Christmas: We love the people we love all year ‘round, but at Christmas we give them that little bit of extra attention and show them even more how much we love them. Turning 50 was about taking the time to recognize where I’ve been and how far I’ve come"

I Still Believe begins filming in Alabama in late May and is set for a March 20, 2020 release date.
