Marsha Light is a resident of the Mt. Vernon/Lisbon area here in Eastern Iowa. She has been diagnosed with terminal cancer and sadly, may not make it to Christmas.

To ensure Marsha gets to enjoy all the trimmings of Christmas this year, the town of Mt. Vernon has decided to dedicate a special day to her. On Sunday, October 7 they will be putting up lights and decorations around town, bringing Christmas to Mt. Vernon early to lift Marsha's spirits.

When we heard about Marsha's story our hearts melted. We decided to dedicate a special Christmas soundtrack to Marsha, for her and her friends to enjoy while decorating the town. On Sunday, October 7 at 11 a.m. you will hear KDAT playing a special two-hour playlist of Christmas music especially for Marsha.

All are welcome to join in celebration of the life of this special friend, family member and neighbor. The day will begin at Elliott Field on 7th St. in Mt. Vernon at 10 a.m., with a caroling walk to Marsha's house. The decorating will begin at 11:30 a.m.

We're proud to provide the soundtrack to this special experience for Marsha here on KDAT. It's our honor as Your Holiday Music Station.

Please feel free to share your stories about Marsha in the comment section below this blog if you happen to know her.

Merry Christmas Marsha! We send our best wishes.
