Another popular Cedar Valley store is closing down for good. After what's been a very challenging 20-months, many area stores have gone from being forced to be closed to not having enough staff to support their customer base and posted hours. In this case, this also marks another Crossroads Center shop throwing in the towel.

The Buckle in Waterloo is closing very soon

This Saturday will mark the final day in business for the Waterloo Buckle location, according to an email sent to customers earlier this week. A Courrier report says the store will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday before shutting its doors and closing down. The Buckle sells both men’s and women’s clothing and is best known for its denim.

In total, the Buckle operates 445 retail stores in 42 states and has several in Iowa. In fact, if you're a Buckle fan, fear not - the Cedar Falls location at Viking Plaza will remain open to customers going forward. There's no word if the Cedar Falls location will absorb some of the Waterloo employees.

Buckle closing means another loss for Crossroads

With the Buckle throwing in the towel, the despondent Crossroads Mall continues to lose stores. In 2020, Dillards closed along with Gordman's. Yonkers shut down in 2018, and Sears has been gone for what feels like forever. Yet the mall is still home to a small number of stores. Earlier this year KWWL ran a story about small businesses opening in both the Crossroads and the College Square Mall in Cedar Falls. Their story encouraged anyone interested in a storefront at the Crossroads Mall to call 319-429-0573.
