The series of Iowa tornadoes that devasted areas near Des Moines over the weekend now has a Missouri connection. 3 of the 7 who lost their life in those storms were from one Missouri family.

The winds on Tuesday were strong enough to knock over this internet tower on Highway 151 between Monticello and Cascade.

Iowa has seen some tragic tornadoes over the years, but one in particular is remembered as infamous. It was an F5 twister that destroyed nearly everything in an Iowa town.

By the time the day was over, a 43-mile path of destruction would be all that was left after a F5 tornado destroyed many communities in central and eastern Iowa.

Two new weather alerts will be added this spring to warn people of storms with high winds and large hail.
