Taylor Swift, Brendon Urie Will Open the 2019 Billboard Music Awards With ‘Me!’
Taylor Swift will kick things off at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards with her debut performance of "Me!" featuring Brendon Urie from Panic! At The Disco.
Swift dropped "Me!" at midnight, accompanied by a colorful, over-the-top video filled with visual Easter Eggs that have been keeping her fans sharing new discoveries online. Swift's newly-released "Me!" music video is the fastest-rising music video to hit 10 million views on YouTube.
The clip even features a reference to Swift's country past in the form of a "cameo" from the Dixie Chicks.
Swift is nominated for Top Female of the Year and Top Touring Artist of the Year at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards. Panic! At The Disco are nominated for Top Rock Artist, Top Rock Album for Pray for the Wicked, and Top Rock Song for "High Hopes."
The 2019 Billboard Music Awards are set to air on May 1 at 8PM on NBC, hosted by Kelly Clarkson.
Along with the big news of the first live performance, Swift also debuted an exclusive video on Good Morning America of her driving around Nashville showing off important places in the city that mean the most to her personally and professionally.
Swift takes the cameras for a drive on Nashville's Music Row, where she reveals that she originally wanted to be signed with Curb Records and went there first because LeAnn Rimes was signed there.
The country-turned-pop superstar is excited about the message of her new song.
"'Me!' is all about embracing your individuality and owning it," Swift says in an interview with Robin Roberts. "With a pop song, we had the ability to get a melody stuck in people’s heads and we wanted it to be one that makes them feel better about themselves.”
"Me!" marks Swift's first release on Universal Music Group's Republic Records after spending her entire previous career with Big Machine Label Group. Swift's upcoming seventh studio album marks her third full pop album following her 2014 studio album, 1989, and 2017's Reputation.
