It's not cheap if you want to take the family out to the ballpark in 2016. A new study looked at the price per person of attending a Major League Baseball game. Included was the cost of a ticket, one hot dog, and one beer. The price tag? $47 per person. Now see why so many families can't afford to go?

For my family of five to go watch an MLB game it would cost us $235! And that's if we all had just one hot dog and beverage. What about souvenirs? How about parking near the stadium or transportation to the field itself? If you DO want to spend the money there are some teams that keep things more affordable than others. The five cheapest teams to see play are the Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Dodgers, Arizona Diamondbacks, Colorado Rockies and the Minnesota Twins. The most expensive? The Red Sox, Cubs, Yankees, Blue Jays and Mariners.

It's another reason why minor league baseball remains so popular. Take the Cedar Rapids Kernels. Ticket prices start at just $8, and many nights they have deals and specials on concessions! My whole family can enjoy a night at Veterans Memorial Stadium for around $60! You can "take me out to THAT ballgame" anytime!
