The Cedar Rapids Taco & Margarita Festival Has Been Cancelled
Back in February, Eastern Iowans were excited to discover a new festival coming to Cedar Rapids this summer. An event called the Taco & Margarita Festival was scheduled for the McGrath Amphitheatre on Saturday, June 4th. Unfortunately, that event is no longer happening.
The Taco & Margarita Festival is still listed on the CR Events Live website, but when you click on the link to purchase tickets, Ticketmaster reports that the event was cancelled by the organizer. It's also listed as cancelled on Facebook. The site doesn't explain why the festival is no longer happening, but it does give an update on refunds to folks that already purchased tickets:
"No action is required to obtain a refund. It will be processed to the original method of payment used at time of purchase, once funds are received from the Event Organizer, which is usually completed within 30 days."
At the time that the Taco & Margarita Festival was announced, the only information we knew about the event was the ticket prices. The CR Events Live website promised that more details would be "coming soon," but it doesn't appear that additional details were ever revealed.
If you still want to attend a Taco & Margarita Festival in the state of Iowa, the website Catch Des Moines says that there is one scheduled for Saturday, July 9th at Principal Park in Des Moines. Iowa Starting Line reports that it will NOT be put on by the organization that did last year's festival, which had a lot of negative feedback from attendees. General admission tickets are available for $15, with additional VIP packages available. You can purchase yours online HERE.
