The Most Popular Costumes in Eastern Iowa This Year

Halloween is just one week away! Who else is excited?! I've been looking forward to Halloween 2018 since November 1st of 2017. I'm currently working on the finishing touches of my homemade costume, but I've known exactly what I was going to be for almost a year now. If you see Dobby the House Elf from Harry Potter wandering the streets of Downtown Cedar Rapids on Saturday night, make sure to say, "hello!"

Not surprisingly, Dobby did not make the list of the most popular Halloween costumes for 2018. Google looked at the searches for Halloween costumes this year and found the top 500 things that people are planning to dress up as. Here are the top 5 nationally:

1. Fortnite
2. Spider-Man
3. Unicorn
4. Dinosaur
5. Witch

When it comes to Eastern Iowa, the results were a little bit different. Fortnite was still the most popular in our area and 'witch' came in fifth, but here are the rest of our top five:

1. Fortnite
2. Minnie Mouse
3. Clown
4. Princess
5. Witch

The most popular costume over in the Des Moines area is 'dinosaur,' and down in the Quad Cities it's 'unicorn.' Check out the rest of the results HERE!
