There’s a New Dating App Involving Your Refrigerator
Forget Tinder! Instead of swiping left or right based on somebody's looks, wouldn't you rather have a look inside their fridge, instead? Thanks to the new Samsung "Refrigerdating" service, you now have that option!
At first, I thought this was a joke, but I guess I shouldn't be shocked by any new piece of technology in 2019. Samsung has launched "Refrigerdating" as a promotion for their $4,000 Family Hub Refrigerator. According to their website:
"Refrigerdating is a service that helps you to find love based on the content of your fridge. By uploading an image of your food, you can get in contact with others who have realized that you are what you eat!"
Basically, all you have to do is sign up and upload a photo of the inside of your fridge. You will then be able to take a look inside the fridges of potential significant others. The website also offers some tips before you get registered:
- "Don’t go styling your fridge now! If this is to work, it needs to be the real thing. Cheating and relationships don’t go together well."
- "Don't narrow it down to fridges looking just like yours. Remember it’s the unexpected mixes that makes the three-star restaurants."
- "A good icebreaker is to send a personal message that reveals something about yourself and at the same time try to compliment the other eg: 'Hey, love that spicy taco sauce, makes me think of my exchange semester in Mexico.'"
The service is free to use, but according to CNET, most of the current users are over in Sweden. That doesn't mean it can't catch on here, though! I just created a generic account simply to see if it would let me sign up, and it did. I'm not actually going to sign up, since I am not an online-dater, but if it sounds fun to you, you absolutely should! Get more info on the service HERE.
